So now, lets delve right into this topic and see how we can check if a phone number is registered to WhatsApp or not.
How to Check if a Number is Registered on WhatsApp
Now, you’ll see the steps to check if a phone number is registered to the WhatsApp service, but you should know that this feature works only on iOS devices. Currently, you can’t possible check for this using an Android device. Now let’s get started.
Step 1. Open the WhatsApp application on your iOS device (iPhone or iPad). After doing this, then follow the next procedure.
Step 2. Now go to the Chats section of the WhatsApp application and click on the “New contact” button (which is the pencil icon) located at the top right corner of your screen.
Step 3. In the phone number field, write or type in the number you want to check. WhatsApp will automatically run a quick check on the number after you’re done typing, in order to see if it is WhatsApp registered phone number or not.
Step 4. Eventually, if the number is registered on WhatsApp, a “WhatsApp account” message will be shown below the typed phone number, also with a green tick mark which will be displayed next to that number.
Step 5. Now, if that number is already registered as a WhatsApp account but have also been saved to your contact list, then you’ll see a message display below the number which reads “Already in contacts”. Tap on the “View” button which is displayed next to the message, to see the details of such number in your phone book.
Step 6. For the last process, if the phone number you typed in the number field isn’t registered to the WhatsApp service, then you’ll see a message below the number telling you that it is “Not on WhatsApp”. If you like to, then you can save the number to your contact list using the “Save” option at the top right corner of that page, or you simply tap on “Cancel” to exit.
NOTE: This feature is really amazing, but it shouldn’t be overused. I presume you’ll ask why. Well, the reason is that after a number of successful requests to check a phone number, WhatsApp will not allow you to check new numbers, with the message displaying “Checked too many numbers” as the viable reason. Do well to use this feature only a few number of times.
Well, now you’ve see the way you can check if a phone number is registered on WhatsApp or not. This will help those who wouldn’t want to bother themselves with saving a number first before checking if it’s a registered WhatsApp account.
